Grand Seiko Sports Collection "The Tokyo Lion"
This timepiece draws inspiration from the association of Grand Seiko with the lion which has been the symbol of Grand Seiko since its beginnings.
The lion mark evolved with the first Grand Seiko in 1960 as a reflection of the ambitions of its Japanese watchmakers. They defined their goal as making the “king of watches” – a watch which was as precise, durable and beautiful as possible. Just as the lion is seen as the “king” of the jungle, they wanted their timepiece to be “king” of the watchmaking world. The pattern on the dial represents the texture of the lion’s mane, whilst the statement angled case embodies intense strength and dignity. The claw-shaped lugs are angled inwards to represent the lion’s paw and ensure a comfortable fit on the wrist.
The SBGA481G is powered by the brand’s iconic, exclusive Spring Drive movement, one of the most significant developments in recent watchmaking which took 28 years to develop. With a superior level of precision, Spring Drive generates energy with a mainspring combined with an electronic regulator, never requiring a battery change. In a Spring Drive watch, the second hand moves in a perfect glide motion, designed to represent the natural continuous flow of time itself. It has a 72-hour power reserve, and a power reserve indicator on the bottom left of the dial.
Every Grand Seiko features signature high standards of precision, durability and legibility, handcrafted in Japan by Takumi artisans. Grand Seiko: beautifully, precise Japanese watchmaking, from the pinnacle of Seiko Watch Corporation’s in-house manufacture.
